Afternoon Shadows-A Writing Prompt

Here's a picture prompt--a shadow of my head and Pinky--my chihuahuador(chihuahua and labrador mix-don't ask because I won't know and I'm not sure how that's even possible).
Pinky's sitting on the back of the couch, looking out the window and I'm
watching television. I thought this photo portrays the intangible love between us.
What do you think?

Please write a 100 words or a paragraph about this photo in the comments.
It doesn't have to be about Pinky or anything I mentioned above.

  1. She was ever watchful, staring out that window, day in and day out. Oh, she would take breaks from time to time, for all dogs required regular naps, mooching opportunities, and slipper hunting. That said, she had a duty, as one of the Order Of Canine, to keep a watchful eye for the demonic hordes. The enemy. The devious little furry critters the humans called squirrels. It was her duty to bark up a storm any time any of them came into sight, and she would always carry out her duty.

Now if she just saw one in the next five minutes, that would be her quota for the day....

    1. Oh William, that's Pinky for sure. She loves to dash after squirrels that eat the tomatoes in the garden! Thanks for a wonderful contribution!

  2. Don't think I can come up with 100 words (I'm fairly certain I've never posted a 100-word response on any blog!), but if Pinky is a mix, the daddy would have had to be the Lab!

    1. Okay, daddy's the lab but how does she give birth to something ten times her size? LOL

  3. To me it looks as though Pinky is standing guard over you. She has one eye out the window just in case anything interesting should occur, but most of her attention is focused on you. You are pretending to be indifferent, but are acutely aware of her at all times and would jump up to do her bidding at the slightest hint of her wanting anything. Unconditional love is what I would call it.

    1. That's true. I feel it's unconditional but she'd be much happier if I gave her a little bacon now and then. LOL

  4. Chihuahuador
Little Chihuahua with the heart of a Labrador.
One part sitting watch over her home and the other part is a slobbering blob of happiness with her human.
So much to do in her small but centered mine. Checking out for any invaders to chase while still looking for the elusive cuddle.

Envious of the photo. I can't always get a good shadow photo of The Square Ones. My Kirby always sat with us while balanced on the back of the sofa. I still miss her after all these years.

    cheers, parsnip

    1. I'm sure you'll get to see Kirby again. Hugs and thanks for the cute story about the slobbering blob of happiness. That's her. You take much better photos.

  5. It's possible. I had a Cocker Spaniel who got impregnated by a Rottweiler.
I don't even know what you'd call those. The same Cocker Spaniel got herself with the neighbors miniature pincher. Our groomer called them Cockpinchers. I know, I couldn't tell if he was being serious or just poking fun of me.

  6. Hi Eve,

Hopefully, David Cameron, deluded thug Prime Minister of the UK, does not see your photo. He would probably think it's a fox and would insist that it get hunted down by a bunch of hounds.

Penny sends sloppy licks to Pinky ;)

    Penny's alleged human,

    Gary
