Behind the Intangible Heart

Hi, my name is Eve Gaal. I live in Riverside County, California with my husband and two naughty, rescued Chihuahuas.
Fiona and Pinky love the sunshine!

If anyone remembers me from school in Orange County, he or she might know I loved reading and writing poetry.
Many of my poems were published in school periodicals and yearbooks. In college, some of my humble poems made the school paper but unfortunately, financial goals pushed me into the advertising side of writing. Most newspapers enjoyed my creativity which helped revenues but sadly, advertising wasn’t helping me move toward my life long dream of writing meaningful poetry and prose. I had to turn my back on my advertising career and return to a world of mystery and the unknown. I had to create a future based on words. No big newspaper group to back me up—no management to prod me forward—no graphic artists to worry about—no sick days—just me and whatever I wanted to write about.

Currently I’m a freelance writer and though I occasionally help businesses with advertising copy, my emphasis is on poetry and fiction. Recent work has appeared in various anthologies, journals and even The Los Angeles Times. My first novel, Penniless Hearts is doing well on Amazon and garnering glowing reviews from around the world. I’m working on a sequel called Penniless Souls. My short Christian fantasy novella called The Fifth Commandment is currently available for Kindle readers.

Nature—more than anything--inspires me to write. In nature, I see God. I see love—I see truth and mystery.

What about you? What inspires you more than anything to create—to sing—to dance and to be happy?

  1. Music inspires me and in that I hear God's music.
Glad you were able to return to your fiction and poetry.
Now to go download your Christian fantasy book - I didn't know about that one.

    1. My wife just pulled it up - that's your new one!
Hey, it's been a long weekend. And month...

  2. How cool to really meet you! My blog, photos, and writing are my ministry along with being grateful and encouraging others <3

  3. Love the photo of Pinky and Fiona. As usual they have the best place in the home.
I love just looking out my window.

    cheers, parsnip and thehamish

  4. I seriously believe that I will write more when I'm done with my program in communications. I'm finishing my last course and I swear, I'm feeling blessed to be able to have a life where I can choose to write what I love.

    Write, love, and be happy!

  5. I get inspiration from unpredictable sources. It comes at times when I least expect it.

  6. Fiona and Pinky certainly must keep you on your toes.
